When we moved to our new home in rural Alberta we were missing:

• a landline phone
• a tv
• high speed internet access
• good cellular access

We triedVOIP wireless internet access with a very fast service provider, but it was not reliable enough.

The VOIP for our main phone service kept dropping out. With 3 service providers in our area, there should have been better service.

Our service provider finally came to the rescue with better internet access but we had to go to a landline for our phone.

The wires are still in the ground in the field even though the thaw is finished and the ground is soft, but Telus assures us they will get to us sometime and bury the line which is being chewed up rapidly by Gophers.

Drop in now and then and keep this site bookmarked on your cell. We will add the good stuff and other info as we find it for you....of course that is after we have checked it out ourselves.

We found that my cell phone was not sensitive enough for reliable access, so I bought a Nokia 6265i. It is a great phone. But Telus software would not work on my XP Media Center and it took 3 calls to support before a tech answered my call and advised that a fix on Microsoft would solve the problem.

WRONG! Microsoft's fix does not work on XP Media Centre, even though the web site says it will. Microsoft does not support Media Center anymore.

Nokia PC Suite downloaded to our XP Media Centre on a 2 year old desktop works perfectly! Yeah!

Tips & Tricks

Before buying a cell phone or PDA, choose your service provider and verify that you have service where you will be using it. It can be very costly to change later.
